Wastewater System Planning and Design
We do everything that’s required for you to receive a state wastewater permit.
Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control Plans
On development project sites, earthwork exposes soil to erosion from rain and wind. Depending on the size and location of your project you may be required to furnish an Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) Plan to satisfy permitting requirements. At McCain Consulting our Certified Professionals In Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) will evaluate your project's earth disturbance to determine EPSC requirements at both the local and state levels. We will design an EPSC plan with EPSC structures (e.g., silt fence, stone lined ditches, etc.) and development project requirements that meets all local and state standards and specifications.
Stormwater Design
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation states "All new projects, redevelopment projects and expansion projects should be evaluated to determine whether a State Stormwater Permit and/or a Construction Stormwater Permit is needed in order to comply with 10 V.S.A 1264 and the federal Clean Water Act, respectively."
At McCain Consulting we have the knowledge and experience to evaluate your project and determine what permits you may need. Through the use of field data and computer software we are able to calculate your projects stormwater management requirements. We have the expertise to create a design plan to control and treat the stormwater runoff on your site. Once the plan is finalized we will submit the appropriate application(s) and secure the proper permits ensuring that your project complies with all state and federal requirements. We also provide the required post construction inspections to verify that construction was performed properly, and stormwater management structures are working effectively.
Since 2006 we have been designing EPSC plans for individual home owners as well as multiple unit developments that meet all the requirements necessary to receive an OSP or local zoning permit.
Road and Driveway Design
Whether you need a simple driveway or a road for a subdivision we have the experience to provide our clients with a site appropriate design. We work with our clients to determine what is needed and then create a design that meets the client's needs, is appropriate for the site, and complies with all state and local requirements.
Water Supplies
At McCain Consulting we can design your water supply whether it's a connection to a municipal system or an individual drilled well. When we design a drilled well water supply system we will develop a plan that includes well and supply line locations. With our years of experience we will locate the system components so that they meet all state and local isolation distances. The locations will also be practical locations based on your individual site. We will also provide specifications for materials as well as any unusual situations like stream, driveway, and sewer line crossings.
Grading Plans
At McCain Consulting we can create a grading plan of your development project site that includes a site map and construction specifications and details. The map will show existing and proposed topography and existing and proposed site components like driveways, roads, ditches, and buildings. The specifications will outline limits of disturbance, construction phasing, stabilization requirement like seeding and mulching, etc. Specifications will also include drawing details. On your next development project let us prepare your grading plan.
Development Project Inspection
All wastewater and potable water system development projects require a certificate of construction as required by section 1-308(a) of the Vermont Environmental Protection Rules. The document certifies that the wastewater system and potable water supply were installed in accordance with the permitted design and all permit conditions were met, all components were inspected, properly tested and successfully met performance tests.
When we design your system we will provide the inspection for you. Even if we didn't design your project we can provide the required inspections. We will make sure you are aware of everything you need to know and do, so that no surprises occur. With our years of experience you can be confident that we will make sure the installation was performed properly, and if it wasn't, know that we will be able to recommend the steps necessary to correct any issues. We represent you and will do everything we can to make sure your system will perform as it should.
